Johannisburg, Würzburg, Rothenburg

Johannisburg

We drove from the Rhine Valley to central Germany. Our first stop is Johannisburg. This is the first of two bishop-prince palaces we will be seeing. The bishop acts as the prince who rules a region. So inside these palaces, you see a display of wealth, power, as well as a chapel that is used for private functions of the bishop. The cathedrals are usually located a few streets away from the castles.

No speed limit on the German Autobahn… guess how fast I was driving!

Rothenburg ob der Tibur

Rothenburg ob der Tibur is one of my favorite European cities. It is completely walled on all sides. Most of the Medieval walls can actually be walked.

The Market Square
I had a German beer, and Tiffany ordered half beer/half juice. It became her favorite way to drink more without getting drunk for the rest of the trip.
