Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Tiffany and I celebrated our 15th-wedding anniversary trip in Taiwan. The kids will spend the next two weeks in Hong Kong while we toured the south and west sides of Taiwan.

We flew from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung airport, then took the metro to the Kaohsiung train station, which is where our hotel is located.

The Formosa Boulevard metro station’s chinese name is 美麗島站, (lit. the Beautiful Island station). The early dutch explorer, upon seeing Taiwan, called it formosa, which means “beautiful” in Dutch.
Because the Formosa Boulevard station is at the crossroad of the north-south and east-west lines in Kaohsiung, it can be considered at the heart of the city.

The government revitalized the port and transformed empty warehouses into art galleries.
