The Turkish Riviera

We went out to the middle of the Blue Lagoon in Oludeniz and saw a green turtle with two remoras hitch hiking underneath it (not seen in Hawaii). Kids had fun playing soccer with some local Turkish kids who don’t speak English (so they sign). A seven-year-old boy had tears on his eyes when we said our goodbye. We visited the ancient Lycian city Xanthos, with a Steele with engraved Lycian language dated to 500 BCE. Tiffany took a peek inside a massive stone grave that reminds us of Jesus’ empty tomb. We enjoyed some delicious local kabab at a street side cafe for US$3 a plate. Now we are at the Mediterranean coastal town called Kas and enjoying the relaxed vibe here.

We enjoyed the turquoise sea water in the Turkish Rivera. Today we visited the ancient Phaselis and played in the adjacent beach which used to be a harbour for the pirates.

We spent the last two days in Antalya, a sea port that St Paul used for his first missionary journey. Our car broke down after going well for 8 days! We are thankful to be able to walk to a nearby shopping center where we got to play bowling, arcade games, shopped at the grocery, worshipped as a family, and ate some KFC and Popeyes! It was nice to wrap up our time in Turkey by being temporary locals. We witnessed how God has protected and watched over us. We are on board of a plane now departing to Beirut, Lebanon.
