The Ho’s 2022 Recap

We are sending you our Christmas greetings from Hong Kong. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We are blessed to have many friends who supported us and prayed for us this year. Calvin’s dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in early December. Through the prayers of many friends, we made it back to Hong Kong safely and were able to support him while he had an operation in the hospital last week.

Here are some highlights for us this year:

  • Calvin is now a homeschooling dad. He is using Susan Wise Bauer’s curriculum The Well-Trained Mind and is loving it.
  • Tiffany continued to serve many pets and families through her veterinarian practice. Calvin had been handling the business side of the practice.
  • This is the 7th year of our practice. Tiffany took a Sabbatical in August and September. We visited three countries in the Middle East (Turkey, Lebanon, Cyprus) and stopped by Athens, Pompei, and Rome on our way back. One highlight was to spend a week in Zahle, Lebanon with our newly wedded friends Fady and Grace.
  • Tiffany is improving her mental health through the help of a therapist. She was diagnosed with anxiety around spring this year. This has been a very powerful journey of healing. Through cognitive therapy, she learned tools that helped her change her perspectives and mindset.
  • Gideon and Carina are now playing in a competitive grass-root soccer club called the Sheriff’s FC.

God met each of us in some very special ways this year. Macarius, a monk in the Stavourouni monastery, showed Christ’s hospitable love to Gideon and Calvin and led us on a path of appreciating more about the ancient Orthodox faith. Tiffany experienced a deep inner healing that was nothing short of being miraculous. Both kids made valuable friendships in Lebanon. They developed a strong sense of self as a result of some pretty powerful life lessons on the road. We appreciate our friends and families even more after we experienced hospitality and unconditional love from our Arab friends.
